The pump will need to be lubricated regularly to keep the suction strong and the aspirator working effectively. Follow the maintenance guide as necessary.

Turn the handle anticlockwise to open the pump.
Step Two
Put food-grade oil on a tissue and wipe it around the inner wall.
Step Three
Put back the handle and pull the bar several times to engage.

I used it immediately on my 2.5 year old. I like that it goes on the tip of her nose not inside the nostril. She was still not happy about it but I knew it wasn’t hurting her. I gave it a pull and could hear the fluids. It had great suction and was extremely easy to use.
